ABOUT
Areli's Ohana is a nonprofit organization created in honor of our daughter, Areli Villalpando. Areli took her own life on February 15, 2022, at the age of 15. Since that day, we (her family) have made it our mission to spread awareness about Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention in hopes of saving others and their families from experiencing the loss we did.
Areli was a light in the lives of many people. She is mainly remembered by many for her beautiful smile, caring heart, and passion for helping others. The loss of her life affected not only her family, but also our community. It was a huge shock to everyone who knew her, even her own parents.
We share Areli's story with others to make sure they know it is okay not to be okay and that they know to reach out and talk about their feelings with others. By sharing Areli's story, we are choosing to keep her memory alive.
All funds collected for Areli's Ohana are distributed back into our communities. These funds are used to host free movies to the public, art classes, materials for Mental Health Fairs, scholarships, and a Suicide Awareness/Prevention Walk, Walking Together for Tomorrow.
For the moment we have only concentrated on Bosque County, and Whitney, Texas. But as we continue to grow our plans are to expand our reach into other communities. We long to help as many people as we can.
